In 1994, a group of housing directors in the St. Louis Metro area began monthly meetings to discuss campus issues and trends in the student housing profession. In April of 1997, this group formalized the association by approving the constitution and bylaws of the St. Louis College Housing Association.  

 

Today SLACHA  members meet monthly to discuss current housing issues and plan future events.  SLACHA also hosts a variety of roundtable discussions throughout the year that focus on specific topics that affect housing professionals, such as binge drinking, apartment issues, influenza pandemic, RA training staff selection, etc.

Member schools collaborate in a number of ways including conference presentations, prospective candidate travel costs, conference socials, and sharing resources such as policies and procedures.  In addition, SLACHA members come together to host an annual Professional Drive-In Conference and an RA Drive-In Conference. Each year the organization hosts several social functions ranging from karaoke nights, Cardinal's games, and happy hours.
